NextPVR Creating a Ton of Processes

$

Hello!

My Environment:

-nPVR is installed and running on Windows Home Server 2011 (basically windows 7)
-Tuner HDHomeRun Quadro
-Two client machines via Kodi on Windows 10.

Problem:

About once everyday. Seems to be sometime during the day or early morning hours the NextPVR.exe processes stack up (see attached screen shot) and never end. Eventually my ram fills up (8gb) and the machine is brought to its knees. I can resolve the issue by stopping the nPVR service and starting it again.

Any ideas?

Logs attached. I had to put the "web" logs in a separate file because they were too big.

Thanks!

OK, I have a weird one here for everyone to think about and hopefully assist me with. I have come across some channels while using the NextPVR add on. It will be with both ATSC and IPTV channels. I have found that if I pause the feed for some time then play it the audio/video will be in sync.
Any thoughts?

Thank you for you time.

Kodi Can't Connect to Server

I've just tried to reinstall Next PVR after a while running TV Mosaic, and I can't get my Kodi to connect to Next PVR.

It's on the same PC and I've tried both 127.0.0.1 and 192.168.1.2 (My PC's IP) - neither work.

Windows Firewall says that the port isn't restricted.

I can watch TV direct from Next PVR, but if I try to connect in Kodi I get:
Code:

And then a load more of the last error (for every other channel I have setup).

I've tried Telnet 192.168.1.2 8866 and get the blinking cursor. But Kodi just won't connect to the server.

Any ideas on what could be going on here?

Interestingly, I only just reinstalled NextPVR (I had it installed around a year ago) after having similar issues I believe a year ago. When I reinstalled it, a load of the old settings were already populated. Is there a way to do a completely clean install perhaps? Is there any other trouble shooting that I could do?

I've also noticed that NPVR Tray only appears if I open it now - I thought this used to autostart?

EPG-Buddy an EPG Tool with easy usage

Hi.
I like to introduce our latest tool, called "EPG-Buddy". This program should make EPG grabbing as easy as possible. Up to now a good EPG is one of the most complicated things to achieve in the HTPC world. Nearly all available sources needs complicated scripting and fiddling with XML files or similar. "On Air"- EPG often is of bad quality or not available at all. Available Sources for grabbing EPG data from online sources are hard to configure, especially if you are new to this topic. Here is where EPG-Buddy jumps in. With EPG-Buddy you can configure your EPG with a few mouse clicks and after you're done your EPG is refreshed completely invisible and automatic on a daily or weekly base. You can use various sources for your EPG data. As EPG-Buddy delivers it’s data in XMLTV compatible format it can be used together with nearly every available TV solution for PC including, but not limited to MediaPortal, Argus TV, NextPVR, DVB-Viewer,… Some features may not be available for every solution but the main features are working with all of them as long as they are able to use XMLTV compatible EPG data..

There is one comfort function, the matching of channel names read from TV Database, that needs to be written individual for every TV engine. That's why this comfort function is not available for some TV engines. But you always can match channel names manually. This way you can use EPG-Buddy together with nearly every TV Solution for PC.

Version 0.5.0.1 (and higher when available) has full NextPVR Support included.

The installation and configuration is described in the manual, available in English and German for download.

Some highlights:
The recent supported EPG data sources are:

Tvguide.com - a fast and free source for North American countries (USA, Canada, Mexico)

TVSpielfilm - a fast and free source for German speaking countries

epgData - a fast but paid source for German speaking countries

Clickfinder - a fast but paid source for German speaking countries

WebGrab+Plus – a free but slow source for nearly every country and language in the World

External XML files - to use XMLTV- compatible XML files from other sources

All sources can be combined as wanted and after data download the EPG can be compared with TheTVDB.com to grep season and episodes numbers often missing in the "raw" EPG data. If there is no description existing in RAW EPG data they are added from TVDB too (if available). Season and Episodes numbers are added in xmltv_ns format understandable by most TV solutions. All is configurable so you can disable the long lasting compare for all channels that are normally not airing series (Shopping , News, Sports,... channels and so on)

Some special hints for usage with NextPVR.
EPG-Buddy is reading the channel names from the npvr.db3 database. Only channels that have set EPG source to something else than "none" are read so you can shorten the channel list this way.

To add data downloaded by EPG-Buddy you don't need to do something special. In Settings simply click on a channel to open the details windows. Here you select xmltv as source and browse to the xml file created by EPG-Buddy. If you've configured anything properly in EPG-Buddy the mapping matches automatically. But you also can map manually, if you missed something in EPG-Buddy configuration...

New versions always can be found here:
https://buddy-tools.000webhostapp.com/downloads
Aside this page they also can be found in Mediaportal and kodinerds forums...

I can't attach the installer here, as it is too big to be allowed.

Recordings always ending prematurely.

I am running NextPVR 4.2.3 (181112) on a Windows 10 Server and Kodi 17.6 as a client on Rasberry 2. Lately issues have started with recording and live view that didn't happen before.

I am using IPTV as the source. This source works fine on my Android box using ProgTV but I want to have the Next PVR recording feature.

Live view often freezes, which I could live with if I had to, but more importantly my recordings always end prematurely, usually at about 26mins. I have tried different recording folders but it still happens.

Any help would be welcome. Thanks in advance.

NextPVR crash and won't now run - how do I recover?

NextPVR has been working well but suddenly today will not work. Below is the information from event viewer.

I have tried upgrading to the latest version but it seems to make no difference.

If I click on NextPVR status I get a blank screen and the process just seems to crash. The strange thing is that I have made no changes to my system at all today.

How do I recover from this? Is there a way to uninstall the program and reinstall without loosing all the information/settings etc?

This is the info from event viewer

I have set up a couple of "keyword" recordings but am getting some random results. How can I view these keywords I have set up and edit or even delete? I can only seem to be able to find how to add more.

Thanks

I have searched arround and it seems there are a few old posts for 2017 or so on this subject but...

Been trying look at ways to move the recording aspect of next of my main pc.

Looking at
Windows 10 iot on pi - has anyone done this?
Drivers for the usb dvb could be tricky..

I know a pi probably isn't fast enough to encode out to the network but I figure that could be done by something else or amaybe a tinkerboard would have enough power to get 1 hd stream back out as well as 2 TV cards in?

Anyone got any thoughts?

What Frequency does Freesat OTA EPG come from?

A few days ago I decided to move from ServerWMC in Kodi to NextPVR for channel maintenance reasons. I did a full scan in NextPVR and got EPG, but it had lots of repeat channels and none with correct channel number etc. So I knocked up a powershell script to read data into NextPVR from here:- https://www.satellite-calculations.c...sat.php?272/25
then later hoping for more accuracy from here:- https://www.satellite-calculations.c...atservices.htm

I then modified my script to merge from multiples of these files and the original nextpvr scan file, de-duping, pruning, renaming and renumbering (to freesat.co.uk names/nums). I have what looks like a perfect freesat list but I now get no EPG and some chans eg ITV2 don't work which locks NextPVR for 120 seconds (though ITV2 settings match those on KingOfSat and ITV's own site?) Any clues on the EPG or why ITV2 is not working greatly appreciated.

I attach my latest channels.xml that I import into NextPVR at Settings->Devices->Import Channels having first cleared the previous channels and I do "Restart Recording Service"then Settings->Channels->Update EPG after.

OK, This has happened several times on different clients. When I escape to go back to the EPG I just get a black screen and then unable to access the client computer. I just get a popup saying the program is not responding. do I want to wait for it to respond to close the program.
This happened around 6pm.

Thank you for your time.

Run custom .bat file at start and end of recording

$

I am looking to run a custom .bat file when next pvr begins recording and when it ends recording. I stumbled upon the ability to add .bat files to the scripts folder under the data folder. I saw that the PararellProcessing.bat and PoatProcessing.bat scripts are run at both the beginning and end of recording. I simply copined and renamed my custom .bat files to the folder under the correct names but they do not run when recording begins. Is there something I am missing? Do the .bat files need a special layout? The ones I am trying to run are scripts to turn on and off an led via a program. The .bats work when perfectly when run on their own.

NextPVR says I have no video decoders when I do

I posted this last night but can't find it today so I'm posting it again.

When I try to play a recording I get a message saying "You haven't configured an MPEG-2 video decoder" but I have.

When I go into settings the video decoder is set to LAV.

I have tried changing the decoder, updating LAV to the latest version and rebooting, but nothing seems to work.

The strange thing is that video was playing fine an hour earlier and I have made no changes.

What do I need to do to sort this out?

One channel visible in HDHomerun app but not in NextVPR

Hi,

I have a HDHomeRun and run NextPVR on a WIndows 10 machine. All channels (that I watch, anyway) work normally with both applications except one. This one channel (Veronica through Ziggo in the Netherlands) is fine when viewed with the HDHomerun app but gives just a black screen in NextVPR while watching live and a 0 bytes file when recording. Anyone has an idea what's going on?

Thanks.

Is there a way to clone EPG from one channel to a different channel?

Is there a way to share EPG from one channel to a different channel? I tried cloning the channel.epg node but it didn't work, are there any workarounds. Example below as Channel 4 HD is NOT on OTA EPG:-

Recording Two shows using same channel

$

I often record shows on the same channel one after the other. In both cases I have a 10 min buffer at the beginning and end of the shows. Usually these shows can use the same tuner during the period of overlapping . However sometimes they use two tuners preventing me recording another show at the same time. Is there some way I can force NextPVR to record the same show on the same tuner. For example:

5:00-5:30 Show1 it records on tuner 1 between 4:50 - 5:40
5:30-6:00 Show 2 (same show as Show 1 but a different episode) force it to record using tuner 1 5:20-6:10
5:30-6:00 Show 3 a different show on a different channel. Record on Tuner 2 5:20-6:10.

I hope I explained this OK.

HELP...

Having lots of trouble with multiple clients accessing the same NVPVR Server and very slow to load m3u/xmltv data.

HTPC
Windows 10
Kodi - Latest Nightly
All machines Hardwired, 60mb/s on Fast.com
3.3.11 NextPVR Client installed.

When loading the m3u/xmltv from the IPTV simple client it takes seconds to go through and load the channels and guide. The NextPVR PVR Client takes almost 25 minutes to complete.
I have filtered the xmltv to only 344 channels with EPG data, and a total of 700 channels for IPTV.

Using the NextPVR Client PVR:
If 1 HTPC is on and kodi is loaded with PVR Manager and all data is loaded, all channels tend to work properly. No buffering, no skipping, continuous play.
As soon as a second box is turned on, kodi loaded, streaming starts to skip on the one, then stops, then wont load the channel again, Kodi crashes causing a restart.
Second box will need a clear all data, NPVR will need a restart of recording service, and the second box will start to stream properly.

If any other box is turned on and Kodi loaded, same cycle as above. I cannot have all HTPC's on accessing the same NPVR server.
Recording works perfectly fine through all this and doesnt buffer/skip.

When NVPR is disabled and IPTV Simple Client enabled with same m3u/xmltv links, no problems on any machine. All can watch the same channel with no issue.

What is best practice in this situation for multiple machines?
Is NextPVR capable of doing this?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
