NEXTPVR not working, variety of symptoms.

NextPVR used to work fine. Around about the middle of December, it stopped working. I run the client on the same machine as the server. It may have been when I upgraded to Windows 10, but I think I saw it working fine for a while. New recordings fail with "Recording Service not running at recording time". Live TV usually comes up with a black screen, but sometimes works (rarely) and sometimes gives me the can't connect message (I haven't seen that one in a while so I don't have the exact verbage). It is configured for a HDHOMERUN device, and the HDHomerun Viewer seems to work with no problems. Scanning for devices seems to work in the PVR client. I did an uninstall/reinstall to no avail.

Live TV doesn't shut down video when entering Sleep.

Hi,

I was previously running Windows 10, Kodi and MP TV Server but after a number of years (and a motherboard crash) decided to wipe a go with Windows 10, Kodi and NextPVR backend because I imagine your software will be using a lot less resources than the stonking great MySQL+TV Server backend of media portal - I have a low powered device. ;)

With my last setup, if you where watching a video or live TV when entering sleep mode, upon waking you would see that playback had been stopped prior and Kodi would just be sitting at the menu instead. With the new setup this behaviour is still present and correct for videos but is not happening with live TV. If I leave live TV playing when I hit sleep and wake it back up, the TV imagine is frozen on screen and if I press the back button, Kodi crashes.

It appears similar to this old thread

Any ideas?

I'm not at home to provide logs yet.

Thanks

Windows 10 Upgrade Issues With Silcondust HD Prime (No Errors but no data delivered)

I recently upgraded my NPVR server from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro. Since then all recordings have failed with the following error, No Errors but no data delivered, this is usually because the device failed to lock a signal. I am also unable to watch Live TV. I get a blank screen which eventually comes back and gives me the following error The tuner you were using was required for a recording...

I have reinstalled NPVR, reinstalled Silicondust drivers, deleted and reinstalled NPVR, all to no avail and completely disabled the firewall on the server. I am able to tune to any channel using the Silicondust View application.

I've attached current server logs...

Any help would be appreciated...

Just installed 3.6.6 in a Windows 10 Pro x64. Everything seemed to be working fine except the Search plugin. The Search screen came up without any listing. TV Guide is working. I am using Schedules Direct.

Any idea?

FYI - I am new to NextPVR and have been using WMC over 10+ years. NextPVR/kodi will be replacing WMC in my Windows 10 box.

Universal Media Server

Hi All,

I needed a Windows Media Server 7 replacement and I found this .... Universal Media Server Version 5.4.0 at http://www.universalmediaserver.com. and it is free :D

The current version is 5.5.0 released 2016-01-05

It allows access to my video library by my Sony KDL-55HX750, WesternDigital TV Live HD Media Player and other PC's on the network.

Note:- I have not tried my Samsung Galaxy S2 Phone or my Samsung Galaxy Tab S (10.5) WiFi as of yet, so I cannot say if it works with them or not.

I have trouble accessing my "Media" PC after I copy video from my "Work" PC via network shares and I forget to reboot the "Media" PC.
UMS will work when I forget to reboot, which makes the wife happy :)

There is a down side .... It Uses Java

From the website .....
"Universal Media Server is a DLNA-compliant UPnP Media Server.

It was originally based on PS3 Media Server by shagrath.

UMS was started by SubJunk, an official developer of PMS, in order to ensure greater stability and file-compatibility.

Universal Media Server supports all major operating systems, with versions for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.

The program streams or transcodes video, audio and image formats with little or no configuration.

It is powered by FFmpeg, MEncoder, tsMuxeR, MediaInfo and more, which combine to offer support for a wide range of media formats."

Recording OTA - LiveTV looks fine, recordings are a mess

Hi all, haven't been on here for quite a while. Life.

A couple years ago, we noticed that our recordings from ATSC (via the classic HDHR) started showing signs like the signal strength got poor in about the last 15 minutes of nearly every show we recorded. Some channels record perfect like my daughter's cartoons on PBS. Watching Live/Timeshifted TV on the same channels that the recordings are made from works great, never see the blocky, tearing, locking up video issue. This is on my HTPC. We quit recording OTA for my wife and I's shows and used the Dish receiver. We're trying to cancel our subscription to use Dish so I'd like to get this OTA issue sorted.

I installed the latest version of NextPVR the other night on my main computer (Phenom II x4, 8GB RAM, Win7 64bit) to see if maybe it was an issue with the HTPC. The same issue happens on it. LiveTV/timeshifted works fine while recordings have video issues like the signal is cutting out. While the recordings are happening, the PC (and HTPC for that matter) haven't been used for anything else. HDHR's config/view panel shows the signal strength of one of the channels in question to be 100%, signal quality to be around 68-70% and symbol quality to be 100%. The cable comes from the antenna in the attic into one of these amps and then two connections go to the HDHR and the other to a digital TV (which we've never seen signal issues on it either).

I'm guessing it's gotta be the signal quality but it just doesn't make sense that we would never see the issue with LiveTV or on the TV in our den.

Any ideas?

I am a real noob so please try and tolerate my ignorance. I can record on quick record no problem but on timer when an ota digital channel it records a couple of minutes and stops . Is this a problem with the ota digital channels or my settings? I apologize if this is in the wrong place but I have attached logs below. The last time this happened was tonight trying to record the big bang theory from 8-8:30 .

Skip Forward in Kodi not working

$

Just installed Kodi 15.2 with NextPVR 3.6.6 as backend. When I used NextPVR to watch a recording, I was able to use the skip forward (1 minute) and skip backward buttons. When I used Kodi to watch the same recording, the skip forward button did nothing and the skip backward button rewind the recording to the beginning.

Any idea? Please help.

FYI - When I first installed NextPVR using LAV codec to pay MPEG2 recording, the skip forward and backward buttons would not work. After I switched the codec to use PowerDVD-12, the skip forward and backward buttons work properly. Is this the same issue with Kodi? Does Kodi use its own codec to play the recording rather than using the codec in NextPVR? If this is the case, is there anyway to change the codec in Kodi?

This is a deal breaker for me since my family use the skip forward button to skip commercials all the time. This is the first time that I used Kodi and NextPVR. We used WMC for 10+ years.

Thanks.

Live TV Channel skips

I have 2 dual tuner Hauppauge 2250 running Windows 10. Recording and Live TV works great!

The issue is when recording a show and then going live TV Channel Up and Downs 1 channel is skipped. The attached file first shows the channels switching normally. 2.1,2.2,6.1,6.2, 9.1. Then I pressed record and the show started recording. Next I hit the back button, it went to 6.2 correctly, then went to 2.1, skipping 2.2. I tried it with the remote and through the NextPVR channel change control. Also if you record 2 shows at once, it skips 2 channels.

I can get to the channel by right clicking and selecting channels, then selecting the skipped channel.

Current status of NextPVR and Netflix?

Reading between the lines, i.e. forum posts, it seems "not possible"?
We have finally got Netflix here (yes I could have used a VPN before) and I was excited to try and integrate it with NextPVR.

Seems not to be?

NextPVR Keeps Loosing Tuning Abilities

I am using NextPVR as a PVR service for Kodi. I am having an issue that I have yet to be able to figure out. When watching live TV via Kodi or NextPVR, the tuner will become unavailable after some time. In addition, the recording service will hang and the webserver cannot be accessed. It also occurs when NextPVR is recording shows in the background. The result is partially recorded shows. When this occurs, I can still watch TV via the HDHomerun View application. I can also access the TV tuners on the network. It appears to be an issue isolated to NextPVR. The only way to restore full functionality is to reboot the computer. After this, I can watch TV, record shows, and access the webserver without issue. I have also noticed that when this occurs, the NextPVR program and the taskbar icon will both randomly hang and crash. I have attached the logs that should be required. Here are the specs of the system that are relevant:

NextPVR version: 3.6.6
Kodi version: 16
OS: Windows 10 Pro
TV tuners:
HDHomerun Prime (latest firmware)
HDHomerun Extend (latest firmware)

Thanks in advance for any help!

Cannot WATCH programs, but I can record them

O.K., I've seen that many people have reported similar issues, some with resolutions. But, after a month of trying,

I cannot resolve my issue. So I've tested, and duplicated, and zipped my logs. Hopefully, someone will show me the error in my ways.

I'm running 3.6.6 on Win7-x64 Ultimate, using 3 Ceton PCI card(s) on multiple PC's, all using the unlocked SAF/LAV filters. At first I thought my issue was with decoders, but since fighting my way through many decoder issues, I am confident they are not. I've also tried many other filters/codecs from various products. It's really a shame that such a great product doesn't offer a standard/default for decoders instead of every new user plodding through the same experiences with decoders.

I can record any/all available channels without issue, but I cannot "WATCH" anything. When I attempt it, audio starts after about 5-7 seconds, followed by video for a split second (actually, just a flash). I can see in the log that NPVR starts the DRI, and assumes that everything is running normally, but it isn't.

I've seen other posts where users had Firewall issues, but I've verified that in my case does not. I've disabled the firewall, and validated the exceptions, and run wide open (no User Account Control), just to be sure. And, as stated above, I can record and play ANY/ALL programs. So I doubt that I have a security/access issue. If someone can inform me as to what directory is used for live watching, I'll do some more validating. Perhaps someone can tell me where NPVR places the captured video so that I may verify that folders security as well.

In the following test, I attempted to "WATCH" a CNN program "NEW DAY SATURDAY" (chan-1215) at 6:26am today (Saturday), and the attempt was stopped at 6:30am. The logs are attached.

DVB tunner frequency isn't getting set by NextPVR

Hi, I am running NextPVR on Windows 7 x64 with this DCDTV350 DTMB (presented as a DVB-T device "USB 2875 Device").
I should state that I can open the device with VLC media player and view broadcasts successfully.
It does work with NextPVR too... sort of.

The problem with NextPVR is that it does not seem to switch the tuner frequency at all. First use of NextPVR on the device gets nothing on channel scan.
However, if I opened the device with VLC and let VLC set the tuner to a specific frequency with channels, NextPVR will then happily scan whatever channels on the frequency that VLC just used, but not the one set on manual scan with NextPVR.

By switching between NextPVR and VLC, I got the channels of two frequencies scanned within NextPVR. However I still need to open VLC to switch the frequency before getting NextPVR to open the correct channel (if I choose a channel on another frequency directly within NextPVR, it gets nothing.)

From `ndigitalhost-20.log`, these seems to be the key:

Code:

2016-01-10 00:51:41.331        [DEBUG][36]        DigitalRecorderDVBT::Tune@1

2016-01-10 00:51:41.400        [DEBUG][36]        locked=1, present=1, strength=0, quality=0  (took 47ms to check)

FYI, the frequency is set to 586,000kHz using VLC before this session.

For reference, I've also attached the log of VLC opening the tuner device and playing from it.

Any idea why VLC can set the tuner frequency but NextPVR can't?

First Time Setup, Error Starting NPVR Service

$

First off, thanks in advance for any help provided.

I'm attempting to set up a replacement for WMC so that I can upgrade my media center desktop to Windows 10. Currently, it's running Windows 8.1.

I just setup version 3.6.6 for the first time, following instructions as shown at the following link (that includes the setup of MC2XML as described in the article, as well): http://www.techhive.com/article/2962...indows-10.html.

Upon completing the setup (the listings did fill in under TV Guide, for the record, if that helps) I clicked "Live TV," and after a few seconds, was given the message "Unable to communicate with the recording service." I then looked and saw that the recording service wasn't running. So, I clicked "Start NPVR Service" in the start menu and was given the following error message:

Name:  Picture1.jpg
Views: 18
Size:  19.9 KB

I haven't a clue how to interpret this. I did try turning off Windows Firewall, just to eliminate that possibility, but it didn't work. I also ensured that NextPVR and NRecord were given clearance in the firewall.

Log folder should be attached. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Channel setting error and Win10 help needed

Hi,

I installed NextPVR yesterday and am trying to get it to work. The first issue I have is that it is not picking up all channels. I live in the UK and use the Meridian/Midhurst transmitter. tracking it down the United Kingdom - Meridian - Midhurst.ini file contains:
Code:

[TERTYPE]
1=United Kingdom
2=Meridian - Midhurst

[DVB]
0=6
1=1,706000,0,0,8
2=2,746000,0,0,8
3=3,770000,0,0,8
4=4,778000,0,0,8
5=5,794000,0,0,8
6=6,802000,0,0,8

but the Midhurst transmitter uses 706, 738, 746, 754, 770 and 778MHZ. Is it OK just to edit the file switching things around a bit?

Also I need an MPEG2 decoder. What is the best thing to do in Win10? It does not find the one in TotalMedia (the rubbish program which came with the August DVB-T210 dongle). Where can I source one from, and preferably free?

TIA,

Nick

Decoder problem with one channel

I have a 2 TV setup using 2 computers. One computer(PC 1) has NextPVR installed on it and Kodi. The other PC (2) has Kodi and is running the NextPVR client pointing to the IP address of PC 1. Every thing on PC 1 is working fine. On PC2, there is 1 channel - Showtime, that is highly pixelated and blotchy. This is true if live TV or a recording. If you watch a recording on PC 2 using Cyberlink Power DVD14 it has the image problem. If I watch the recording using VLC everything is great. This PC 2 had NextPVR installed on it and I had registered Power DVD14 on this machine. I have uninstalled NextPVR and am using the client. I am running windows 10 on both machines. Any ideas? I am not sure if this is the correct place to ask.
Thanks
John

Closed Captions on my recordings do not show up when played in Windows Media player/center.
They show up fine on the pvr player and Wintv 8 player. I have the latest Next pvr version. Should
I use a different Video renderer (using VMR9) or a different MPEG2 decoders (using Microsoft DVT-DVD)?
This isn't a major problem, love the program :).
