Initial v5 comments

I did some initial testing with v5 and like what I'm seeing so far. In particular I noticed it automatically creates IPTV Channel groups for me from the channel listings, whereas with v4 I had to create them myself (unless I'm missing something?). One feature request - in the groups list (Channels > Advanced Tools > Channel Groups), would it be possible to add a "hide" feature to hide channels from a particular group? The current option of deleting the group makes it tedious to restore the group at a later date. For example, I'd like to be able to hide sports group channels (NFL, NHL, NBA etc.) during the off seasons, then make them visible at the appropriate time.

Thanks and keep up the good work!

Gaps in the Guide

Just updated the guide and wondering if there should be gaps in it

As I use Emby, I updated the guide in Emby using, I presume, the plugin, and the gaps that show in the NextPVR guide have programs in them in the Emby guide. So assuming the programs in the Emby guide weren't left over from a previous update, shouldn't they show up in the NextPVR guide as well.

As the title says, are they on your radar? I assume there are significant challenges that explain their absence, ie. if it were easy, they would already exist...

Support for Windows Vista?

Would I be wasting my time by attempting to install NPVR v5 public beta on a PC running Windows Vista? My guess is that Vista is unsupported now due to .NET Core, if nothing else. (In case anyone was wondering, NPVR 4.2.4 works fine on Vista.)

EPG to XML or other format

Hi, I'm new here but I use npvr for years.
My question is:
Is there a way to convert c:\users\public\npvr\npvr.db3 to some xml or csv with just ...
channel name, programme title, start time, end time, description
so I can read the resulting file somewhere else?
Much appreciated any kind of help.

V5 Testing

I have begun using NextPVR V5 that is installed on the same machine with the V4 installation.

I would like to help out with testing V5 but I'm not sure how to proceed. Can I assume that everything that is shown in either the web or desktop app should work? I've tried quite a few operations and I am getting some good results. But not all.

Would you prefer that I simply list the things individually or just send a broadside post? Are there areas of V5 that shouldn't be of concern yet simply because development is ongoing?

For instance:
- Web App - Settings - Devices - Do groups work? I can add a group name but seem unable to add channels to it.

- NPVR Tray - Popup always shows device list collapsed. Would much prefer it to show expanded devices that are active.

- Desktop App - Live TV - Will not show channel list from right-click context menu.

There's more but I hope you sense my intent.

When playing a recording from the browser Recordings screen.......

I find that playing a recorded show from the browser you have to click on a small area for the video to start. Could you make is so that you can click anywhere on the screen or at least, click on the tile to start the recording?
Also, not sure if it's ready for remotes but the remote doesn't seem to work at all in the web screen and only sparsely when using the GUI. Maybe it's just too early yet.

Directory folder does not delete

When I delete a recording from within the GUI, the directory folder remains in the recording folder. Sometimes when deleting a recording, it also leaves the empty .xml file there as well but not everytime.

Home Network Confusion?

Good Day...I am confused and yet pleased at the same time. Here is my situation. I have V5 installed on a W10 machine (1) and I have my HDHR Quatro installed on another W10 machine (2). Machine 2 does not have an instance of NPVR installed and yet I am able to connect to V5 of NPVR via machine 1. I thought I read somewhere that V5 installation was based on a per machine basis atm and would only work on 1 machine. Like I said I am confused but at the same time pleased that it does cross my home network and streams the media. My setup is completely all defaults and using SD for the EPG.

Just asking but this is great! Cheers...

Database and Config Compatibility

When we do a clean install of Windows and NextPVR we only need to copy the database and config file to get up and running again. Will it be possible to do this when we are ready to stop using V4 and go over to using V5?

How do I Simply Delete Incorrect Metadata

$

I have a few files in my Video folder that when I have tried to search for Metadata there are numerous options.
I have selected the one I thought was most probable, but then found it was the wrong one.
I have tried to select another but it keeps reverting to the first one I selected.
Is there anyway to Simply (onus on the simply) delete all traces of the metadata and any links to it from NPVR so that I can find and select the correct option??
Many thanks
Bob

OSX Version doesn't work so well

Hi,
I downloaded the OSX version of the NextPVR v5 beta and it looks very promising but unfortunately didn't get that far with testing it with OTA channels in Australia. I'm on High Sierra using an HDHomerun network tuner. The HDHR is detected and all the channels show up in a scan but I don't seem to be able to populate either the channel guide or view live TV. I am using theDVB/ATSC guide which is freely available in Australia and shows up in the HDHR app, but it never populates the TV guide.
If I try to watch live TV when I click on a channel to open the player I get an Error Starting Transcode: Internal Server Error which appears in the player window.

While playing around I also got a few error dialogs show up and my terminal window also has a number of error messages. I have saved the log file if you would like to have it

Clean install crash!

On a clean install of latest NPVR NextPVRServer.exe crashes and closes almost immediately. Eventually managed to catch error message before shutdown as no log created.

To cut a long story short the following files are missing!:-

config.xml or Config-master-dont-edit.xml
npvr.db3 or empty.db3

There are no files at all in NPVR-data directory. After copying missing files from other computer NextPVRServer.exe starts without error.

V5 Running in a Terminal Window?

Installed V5 and it is running in a terminal window, Is that correct or did I go wrong somewhere? Can't say I have seen anyone else mention it.

If I close the window server goes down, otherwise with terminal open is connecting to Kodi OK

Deleted channels are showing up, but only in Android App

I imported my IPTV stations and removed the ones I wasn't interested in, but many of them are showing up in the Android App. The don't show up in the Kodi plugin, or the web gui, just the Android app.

I'm using the Docker v5 backend (which has been working awesome by the way)

1000 Recording Limit

$

Recently the NextPVR client is not showing any new saved or pending recordings, with the last recording being May 28th. However, the database file shows new recordings being saved, and new recordings being scheduled with EPG updates. Also, my custom application which reads the database in order to facilitate playing recordings in MPV can see and play these new recordings without issue.

When I added up all of the ready recordings from the NextPVR client, I got a total of 1001, though I may have accedently added an extra 1 when counting three or four series in a row having only one recording. Based on this, it appears that the NextPVR client is reading only the first 1000 scheduled recordings it finds when populating the recording section. Is there anything which can be done to increase this amount, or possibly allow unlimited recordings?

When checking the web interface, it appeared to not have this issue.

OSMC using NPVR not getting complete, correct EPG data

Hello,

I initiated a thread on this topic over on the OSMC forums and they advised me to try over here before pursuing the "nuclear" option of removing ~/.kodi data. (I'm not a techie, especially not a Linux techie, so I'm not even sure what that means.) Anyway, here is the problem I've experienced:

I recently had to rescan my OTA channels due to spectrum repacking. I went through the process in NPVR on my Windows 10 “server” then validated that all was well when watching TV through NPVR. All channels showed up in the EPG (I use Schedules Direct) with correct information about the programming and all channel logos displayed correctly. (One logo changed; I placed the new logo into the appropriate NPVR directory on the server.)

I also have Kodi Leia, using NPVR, running on the server that’s running NPVR. I started it and confirmed that all was well within Kodi, too. All channels showed up in the EPG, all programming information appeared correct, and the channel logo that had changed was displaying correctly.

Then I fired up OSMC, which is connected via wifi to the server, and rebooted it to ensure (I thought) it was getting the latest information from the server. Evidently it was not. One channel is not showing in the “Guide” display, but all of them are showing in the “Channels” display. Moreover, some programming information is incorrect in the Channels display (the programming information for the channel missing from the OSMC Guide display is for a different channel in the OSMC channels display). Finally, OSMC was not picking up the correct channel logos from the server. In particular, one in particular that had changed continued to show the “old” logo for that channel, even though it should no longer be accessible to NPVR because I changed its file name to "Not Used".

In case it’s relevant, if I try to tune to the channel that is showing in the Channels display but not in the Guide display on OSMC, it takes considerable time, with significant buffering. Eventually, it does tune to the channel.

Until this rescan, I had no trouble with Guide and related data in OSMC, and virtually no buffering tuning to and watching live TV.

I've zipped and attached NPVR logs. In case OSMC logs might be helpful, you'll find them here: https://paste.osmc.tv/cuyosacoya

One other point that might be helpful: I did the rescan in NPVR twice. I have 6 tuners. I rescanned tuner 1 and noted (manually) which channels had changed. I left the unchanged ones alone and unchecked the "old" channels that changed. Then I deleted all channels from the remaining 5 tuners and, one at a time, opened them to configure them, and answered the question about copying over settings "Yes". After finishing that the first time, NPVR threw an exception that was picked up by Windows. I didn't write it down (I'm sorry), but I believe there was an address out of range. The text indicated that the application might be able to manage the exception, so I pressed on. With the process complete, I proceeded to check channels and EPG in NPVR and Kodi and all was well. The above problem occurred in OSMC.

Because of the problem I had in OSMC, and the exception that was thrown, I decided to complete the scan again from scratch. This time, I deleted all channels from all six tuners, then rescanned the first one and deselected channels I was not interested in. Then I used the same process to "copy" the settings to my other 5 tuners. This time, no exceptions were thrown. I re-ran the checks and got the same results, thus my post.

Thanks very much for any assistance.

epg guide for iptv

$

I have my satellite stuff set up, and decided to add some iptv stuff (m3u8 and xmltv guide), and it seems like, correct or not, when asked to updated the guide, it updates for satellite then updates for iptv, but after its finished the satellite guide update, it says its finished, even though according to the nextpvrserver window its still busy slaving away adding info to the iptv epg guide. Should it do that.

Cannot Scan channels

System: Unraid NAS V6.6.7 running with LibreELEC Linux Kernel version 4.13.20 on an Intel i7 processor, 16GB of Ram.
Tuner: Hauppage WinTV-HVR-2210 PCIe card, Dual Tuners on Terrestrial Antenna - Waikato NZ Region (Te-Aroha Transmitter).
Passed through card to NextPVR docker container with the parameter --device=/dev/dvb, so it can see the DVB-C and DVB-T tuner adapters.

When I chose a DVB-T adapter and press the "scan channels" button, the scan digital channels dialogue box appears, but the is a blank pull-down box and pressing the "scan channels" button next to that does nothing. Now I am stuck.

FYI: I configured a Plex docker container on the same system and I can scan for channels and view Live TV, so I know my hardware is good. I then disabled that from Plex so it does not interfere with the NextPVR installation.
